Axiostat Chitosan Hemostatic Dressing is an advanced class of wound dressings that stops bleeding within minutes of application through an active mechanical barrier. Axiostat acts as a barrier against bacteria and can remain on the wound site for up to 24 hours. Axiostat is made from 100% chitosan, which is derived from shellfish. The natural material has a tendency to change color.
The effectiveness remains unchanged. When Axiostat is applied to the wound site under compression, the pressure draws the wound together with the blood clots and surrounding tissue. This creates a mechanical barrier that temporarily stops the bleeding. Axiostat adheres to the wound and forms a mechanical seal around the bleeding site, promoting hemostasis. Axiostat is a sterile, single-use, non-absorbable hemostatic dressing intended for the control of bleeding in the following indications:
● To stop moderate to heavy bleeding from cuts, abrasions, lacerations, punctures, venous or arterial bleeding.
● Hemodialysis, vascular access sites, while reducing mobilization time in patients undergoing diagnostic
or interventional procedure using a procedure sheath
have undergone.
● To prevent moderate to severe bleeding during surgical procedures, dental procedures and trauma injuries
to stop.
